Open Table’s No Waste Cooking Workshop

Open Table’s No Waste Cook Club is an interactive cooking experience to help people reduce their food waste at home.

100% of profits go back into our food relief program, helping improve food security for our community.

Our expert facilitator will share our top tips for reducing food waste including how to plan meals, shop smarter, use what you’ve got, get more out of every day and keep food fresh to simple storing techniques. Our workshops encourage group discussions, with participants sharing their own waste reducing tips and peer to peer learning.

What’s included:

Cooking Demonstration

Demonstrating our popular seasonal zero waste recipe. Participants will learn how to easily incorporate leftovers, vegetable scraps and commonly discarded food items into a delicious meal and get to taste test the end result. Our current seasonal recipe is Veggie Scrap Fritters.

Quick Pickling

At our pickling station participants can bring along a jar from home to reuse or take one of our sterilised jars. Surplus produce, that would otherwise go to waste can be sliced up to make the perfect snack to take home for later. We’ll have a variety of spices available and a simple pickling brine to preserve the jar of veggies.

Take Home Pack

Each participant takes home a copy of Open Table’s No Waste Cookbook featuring over 20 recipes (valued at $15). The pack also includes a Weekly Meal Planner booklet, our Helpful Hints Cheat Sheet to reduce food waste and our database of resources and further reading to continue on their sustainability journey.

Open Table is a registered charity and social enterprise, dedicated to educating people on how to reduce their household food waste (to save the planet as well as save on their grocery bills!).

Open Table is an emerging food relief charity with a ‘no waste’ focus. Since 2013, we have been rescuing perfectly edible food from bakeries, supermarkets and grocers (that would otherwise end up in landfill). This food is lovingly prepared and shared with those in need at one of our free weekly lunches and free food markets.
